Edit without leaving Encloq
Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Markdown notes and text files open in a built-in editor, and New creates them. What the editor can’t change stays as it was, and unsaved changes stay sealed on your device.
A version for every save
Each save adds a version, or replaces the one you’re editing if you prefer. The version history shows and restores earlier versions, and Export saves a PDF or another format beside the original or on your device.
A PDF editor
Highlight, draw, add text boxes and notes, rotate, reorder and delete pages, and insert pages from another PDF. Forms fill in field by field, and flat forms get fillable fields at their lines and boxes.
Signing in the PDF editor
Every signature is now placed in the PDF editor: click where it goes, with the date and place below it if you want them. Word documents, Markdown notes and presentations can be signed as a PDF.
Pictures and recordings
Crop, straighten, adjust, mark up and redact pictures. Trim audio and video in MP4, MOV, M4A, MP3 and WAV without re-encoding them.
Richer previews
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV and Markdown files open as rendered previews with thumbnails. PDFs gain search, a page rail and a two-page view, videos speed and subtitles, and recordings a waveform.
Also improved
- A quote, a search result or your first unread message opens right at that message, however far back, and Jump to latest brings you back.
- Word, PowerPoint and Excel files are uploaded without their author, company and other hidden document details.
- A message you’re editing, a voice message waiting to be sent and a file still uploading for your draft come back after a lock or a reload.
- Messages, names and file names in Arabic or Hebrew read in the right direction.
- Settings › Appearance offers a small, medium or large display size.
- Select several files with Shift and the arrow keys or with Space, and move them to the trash with Command-Backspace on a Mac.
- Search by a contact also finds archived conversations and trashed files, and Show in folder selects the file you found.
- Adding a passkey, password or authenticator is now confirmed with a passkey or password first.
- Sessions are named after their browser and system and show when they signed in and were last active.
- Large data exports are split into several archives, and an export still being prepared can be cancelled.
- When Encloq can’t be reached, it says so and offers to try again instead of showing the sign-in page.
- Messages and Files open faster after you unlock, and long histories and very large folders no longer slow the app down.

Smoother conversations
Conversations glide into place when you pin them or a message arrives, long messages fold behind Show more, and pictures you send appear in your message at once.
Details when you want them
In Files a click selects and a double-click opens. The ⓘ button shows details beside your files, and they stay open while you browse. The toolbar is tidier, and filtering by a person also marks the files you shared with them.
Never miss an update
After an update a short note links to what’s new, Encloq tells you when a new version is ready, and messages send right away without reloading.
Natural on phones
Lists give a gentle bounce at their edges, a swipe down tucks the keyboard away, and search and transfers open over the screen you are on.
Easier sign-in
Password managers now save your Encloq password, a code you paste fills all six boxes, and Enter continues wherever you type a password.
Clearer plans
Yearly billing shows what you save each year, and you can change your plan while a cancellation is pending.

- Encloq now removes metadata from far more PDFs, including those from Apple apps, Illustrator and Acrobat.
- Version history stays complete when you save files to your archive.
- Previews open faster and fit the screen on phones.
- Videos that were missing a thumbnail now get one.

- Messages you send in quick succession keep their order on screen.
- On phones, conversations keep their layout while the keyboard is open.

- Search is more precise: date filters count back from today, results from the trash are labelled, and German filter words work without umlauts.

A guided tour
A short tour plays through a sample workspace inside the app and shows conversations, files, versions and signing. Start it again any time from the account menu.
Thumbnails
Pictures, videos, PDFs and text files show thumbnails in your files, and conversations show pictures, videos and PDF pages right in the chat.
Passwords and recovery
Add a password beside your passkeys, secured with an authenticator app. After an email recovery, copy your key from a passkey or password that still has it.
Files by person
See every file you exchanged with a contact, and narrow your search to them.

Step-by-step guides for each browser, with one-tap install where the browser offers it.
Made for tablets
On tablets, a slim icon rail and a compact conversation header leave more room for your work.
