The title block records every change. Who works from which revision, it cannot record.

In the studio, revision C is issued.

The email goes to the distribution list. Whether everyone opened it, the list cannot say.

The plumber opens the plan from his downloads.

It is revision B. The drain goes where it no longer belongs.

On site, the tiler works from a forwarded copy.

He was never on the distribution list.

Construction leaders surveyed by FMI, 2018.

34.4% named outdated or faulty data as the main cause of poor project information.

Source and context

Construction Disconnected (FMI, 2018), page 22: 205 of 595 answers. The category covers outdated or otherwise incorrect information, not outdated plans alone. The study surveyed 599 construction leaders: 500 in the US and 99 in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

The sample comprised contractors, specialty trades and owners. It was not an architects-only survey, and it does not measure Encloq’s effect.

With Encloq

The current revision.
For the whole project.

Attach the revised plan under the same name and it becomes the new version for everyone; earlier ones stay in the history.

Sent under the same name, revision C becomes version 3, current for everyone in the conversation.
  • Same name, next version

Choose Send as new version when Encloq offers it.

    How versions work
  • Read, and confirmed

A signed read confirmation shows who has opened the plan. From Encloq One.

    See delivery options
  • Nothing overwritten

Send a contractor exactly the version they need, or make an earlier one current again.

Drawn with care.
Shared with intention.

A large plan should not mean a smaller conversation. Keep the drawing, the revision and the decision together.

From your drawing to their next step.

Bring the new version into the project conversation. The question can stay right beside it.

A substantial plan set does not have to arrive in full before you begin. For seekable PDFs, Encloq retrieves and decrypts the ranges needed for the page.

Through the schedule.
Where Encloq helps.

Six moments, each where it falls in a project.

  1. Construction drawings · HOAI phase 5

“Structure, services and the builder all need the plans. None of them works in our system.”

One project conversation, invited by email.

Planners and contractors join for free; plan sets up to 250 GiB per file travel the same way.

    How invitations work
  2. Approval · HOAI phase 5

“Did the client approve this version or the one before?”

A change order needs text form (§ 650b BGB).

Signed on the plan, kept in the history.

The client signs the PDF; the unsigned version stays in the history.

    How signing works
  3. Tender · HOAI phase 6

“The tender drawings go to every bidder. Who passes them on after that?”

Plans can be protected works (§ 2 UrhG).

Encrypted, and you decide on passing it on.

With Pro, switch off Download and Forward per drawing; copies already sent stay readable.

  4. Award · HOAI phase 7

“The bid comparison goes to the client, with author and company from the template.”

    Shared without hidden details.

Author and company are removed on upload; each save in the editor is a version.

  5. Site supervision · HOAI phase 8

“The crack is in the photo, and so is the neighbour’s number plate.”

Marked up and redacted before it goes out.

Redact site photos in the picture editor; location data is removed on upload.

  6. Warranty · five years after acceptance

“Five years on, a leak. Which plan did the plumber work from?”

Planning defects: generally five years (§ 634a BGB).

Every version, with its date and conversation.

The history shows what went to whom and when, and which version was current.

Access control needs Pro. Signatures in Encloq are not qualified electronic signatures. 250 GiB per file, within your plan’s storage. General information, not legal advice.

Private by design.

Unpublished designs are encrypted on the device before upload. Recipients decrypt on their device, including the file ranges needed for a seekable PDF preview.
